CCC Standards For Cashew Facilities And Processing Procedures
Cashew Concern ensures that the cashews that display our seal of approval come from facilities overseas that subscribe to the highest manufacturing practices. The cashews that come from our approved facilities are audited and approved by inspectors that specialize in the cashew industry.
In the past many facilities that have set high standards for quality and working conditions have been overlooked by the American market since their higher quality standards come with a slightly higher price tag.
In recent years buying trends have supported shippers whose standards are compromised in order to offer a cheaper price to the trade. The danger of this is that the product potentially comes from unsanitary facilities with unfair labor practices.
Cashews are the number one imported nut in the United States. It is the objective of the CCC to make sure these cashews are sourced from the highest quality manufacturers throughout the world.
The concern for food safety has made it absolutely necessary that we have a monitoring organization in place to ensure that the cashews we bring into the United States meet with high quality standards and are processed in facilities that have adopted fair labor practices to ensure peace of mind for the products that we distribute and consume.
ALL CASHEWS ARE NOT ALIKE!!
Cashews come from a multitude of shippers ranging from high quality food processing facilities to facilities that are unsanitary, unreliable and unsafe for food production.
CCC audits each facility for cleanliness, quality and fair labor practice. The CCC conducts yearly audits of each facility to ensure these practices are maintained. Once the facility is inspected, the cashews that come from these facilities will be inspected upon arrival by an independent service.
