OUR LEGAL TEAM INCLUDES:

The Saul Ewing International Trade and Government Relations Group consists of a vibrant team of attorneys who together bring nearly 100 years of experience to providing high quality support to a range of international and domestic clients positioned throughout the commercial chain – including U.S. and foreign-based manufacturers, importers, exporters and distributors – in nearly all matters regarding international trade. Saul Ewing also represent a variety of U.S. and foreign-based public and private sector interests on a wide range of issues that require close and consistent contacts with U.S. Executive agencies, Congress, State governments and non-governmental organizations. In addition to clients based in the United States, Saul Ewing represents a number of interests based in Brazil, Peru, Honduras, Nicaragua, Philippines, Greece, and elsewhere. We have advised these clients on matters affecting trade in a wide range of economic sectors throughout the world, including raw and processed agricultural products, fisheries and aquacultural processing, manufactured goods, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, textiles and apparel, transportation industries and energy services.

Jeffrey S. Levin of Saul Ewing, LLP

Jeffrey Levin concentrates his practice on trade law. For nearly 20 years, he has represented clients on all sides of the trade equation encompassing the wide spectrum of trade matters.

Before starting his position with Saul Ewing LLP, Mr. Levin was a partner with Shepard, Aptaker & Shepard, P.C., and was a named partner with the international trade boutique of Harris Ellsworth & Levin in Washington, DC, where he started his professional career in 1988.

Mr. Levin has represented companies and business associations in trade remedy actions before administrative agencies and Federal courts, including antidumping and countervailing duty investigations and "section 201" safeguard proceedings. He counsels extensively on export control matters including trade sanction programs and export license requirements. Mr. Levin advises clients on Customs-related issues, ranging from more basic topics such as including classification, valuation and marking requirements to more complex issues such as establishing importing operations and compliance with prior notice requirements and bioterrorism regulations.

Mr. Levin represents clients on other federal regulatory matters, including food labeling and related issues under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Federal Trade Commission, as well as transportation and federal procurement issues. He also has extensive experience regarding the legislative process having counseled on government affairs and public policy issues before the U.S. Congress.

He is admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of International Trade and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

DTB Associates provides consulting, legislative, legal, and business support to domestic and foreign clients on a variety of issues including agriculture, trade law and policy, and legislative affairs. Many of its partners worked at the U.S. Department of Agriculture and are highly familiar with the domestic and international agencies involved in the various aspects of the global food and fiber market.

Carlos Mateo Paz-Soldan

Carlos Paz-Soldan focuses his practice on negotiating and promoting international trade, immigration policy and Native American and fisheries legislation on behalf of foreign embassies, municipalities, and associations before federal and state agencies, the White House, the U.S. Congress and international organizations and governments.

A native of Lima, Peru, Mr. Paz-Soldan speaks fluent English, Spanish, French, and Portuguese. He has written numerous editorials on U.S./Latin American relations for the Latin American Advisor.

Previously, Mr. Paz-Soldan worked as an attorney in Lima, Peru and has participated as an international observer in elections in Haiti, the Dominican Republic, and Bosnia.

During law school, Mr. Paz-Soldan was President of the Hispanic Law Student Association and represented clients in asylum and deportation proceedings.
